A federal technology services contractor is hiring a Network Administrator to support a long term civilian agency program in Atlanta, GA. The contract was awarded last year and has four years remaining.

This is a senior level networking role. You will own the design, deployment, and day to day health of the network, with a heavy emphasis on Cisco VOIP and IP telephony backed by Cisco ISE.

What you will do

  • Design, deploy, and manage LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless infrastructure
  • Configure and monitor Cisco IP Phone systems with ISE
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and keep downtime low
  • Run firmware updates, patch management, and hardware replacements
  • Implement and manage firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, and encryption
  • Run security assessments and vulnerability scans, then close the gaps
  • Analyze traffic and performance metrics, tune QoS, and clear bottlenecks
  • Document configurations and changes, and keep disaster recovery plans current
  • Mentor junior network administrators and partner with systems, development, and security teams

What you need

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 7 to 10 years in network administration
  • At least 2 years as a VOIP administrator
  • Proven work designing and managing complex network environments
  • Strong command of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, and OSPF
  • Hands on with Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
  • Working knowledge of firewalls, IDS and IPS, and VPNs
  • Familiarity with wireless networking and management
  • US Citizenship required

Nice to have

  • CCNP, CompTIA Network plus, CISSP, or a similar certification

Working conditions

  • Office environment with occasional on call duties for after hours support
